CAPE TOWN: Mrs Olive Yengeni, the mother of ANC NEC member, Mr Tony Yengeni has passed on.

The African National Congress (ANC) has announced the passing of the mother of its member of the National Executive Committee, Mr Tony Yengeni.

In a statement issued by the party, the party said, “The ANC joins South Africans in mourning the untimely departure of Mrs Olive Yengeni after a short illness.

“Mrs Olive Yengeni passed on, on the early hours of Sunday, 06 June 2021 in her family home in Milnerton in Cape Town.

“Mrs Olive Yengeni is a mother to Cde Sthembiso Tony Yengeni, ……a member of the National Working Committee and National Executive Committee of the ANC,” the statement said.

“The agony of the passing on of Mrs Olive Yengeni is compounded by the fact that she departs the world of the living at a time when our country and global terrain is confronted and grappling with a global pandemic, COVID’19.

“The ANC dips its revolutionary banner in conveying its heartfelt and sincere condolences to Comrade Tony Yengeni and family on the untimely passing on of their beloved Mom, Olive Yengeni,” the statement said.

Mrs Yengeni will be laid to rest Saturday in Gugulethu township in Cape Town.
