JOHANNESBURG: It all began with a sudden Instagram post, which was shortly deleted after fans took the news to the streets of Twitter.

The music sensation and Amapiano artist was reported to have been involved in a fatal car accident on Monday, the 9th of August 2021.

It all began with a sudden Instagram post, which was shortly deleted after fans took the news to the streets of Twitter. The post was made by Dudu Ngwenya, best-known as ‘Lady Du’, where she shared a picture featuring Killer Kau and Mpura Mpura with the caption: “I will never be the same again. God what did we do, whyyyyy father, where will I get the strength God? Yho I’m beyong broken.”

Many did not believe that the artists have indeed passed on, but what shook everyone amongst it all was the fact that approximately 6 people who were involved in the accident had passed on.

This includes the passing of 3 members affiliated with the record label ‘SMEA’, namely the hitmaker of ‘Tholukuthi Hey’ and Amapiano artist ‘Killer Kau’, Sakhile’s DJ ‘Thando Tot’, SMEA road manager ‘TD’, Mongezi Stuurman knowns as ‘Mpura Mpura’, Mpura’s DJ ‘The Voice’ and 1 female whose identity is not known as yet.

It was also reported that the crew were on their way to a gig in Rustenburg and that the accident occurred on Marikana road (N4 Northwest).

They honoured and commemorated the late Amapiano legendary and rising star Sakhile Hlatshwayo best-known for his stage name ‘Killer Kau’ in a candle ceremony that was conducted on the 11th of August 2021 at 6 pm.
