JOHANNESBURG: The High Court in Pretoria has given Public Enterprises a month to decide the fate of the carrier.
The skies may soon be cleared to sell off struggling Mango Airlines. The High Court in Pretoria has given Public Enterprises a month to decide the fate of the carrier.
The airline was placed under voluntary business rescue due to dire financial constraints in 2021. But Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has delayed making a decision on its sale.
Business Rescue Practitioner Sipho Sono and the NUM took the government to court to get finality on the matter.
The court declared the minister’s failure to make a decision unlawful and has given him 30 days to decide.
If that fails, the sale will automatically be considered approved.
