EMALAHLENI: Manyaka, who hails from a township called Emalahleni KwagGuqa Section, hopes to be a role model for his community.
Johathan Manyaka, 23, was crowned Mr Mpumalanga 2021 at the glitzy finale at the Banquet Hall on Saturday, June 5.
The Human Resources Management student from Tshwane University of Technology said he suffered emotional abuse from his early childhood which forced him to work hard and be independent.
Manyaka, who hails from a township called Emalahleni, KwagGuqa Section, hopes to be a role model for his community.
“I come from a township where there are fewer opportunities for the youth or programs to groom the youth,” he said.
Manyaka said he was shocked when he was announced a winner after he bagged the title during a ceremony where 15 other men contested for the title.

“It was a moment which shocked me and that made me realize that hard works pay off especially when you are committed to what you love and it also made me realize God is there and He answers,” he said.
He said he was inspired to take part in the competition to inspire others after what he went through in life. Because he believes that they will grow, learn and teach others the importance of emotional stability and how to treat women.
“I would like to say to that they should focus on what they love and also not to forget humanity it is important to help someone who is less fortunate,” he concluded.
Mr Mpumalanga was sponsored by ABM Foundation, Milviforce Puma, TMM, African Bank, the Department of Culture, Sports and Recreations, Mpumalanga Government, and Masana’s Swimwear.
