As South African youth, we should look to Lekau for motivation and inspiration, writes EDGAR LEGOALE

Drip Owner Lekau Sehoana is truly an inspirational figure. We should all take pride in his incredible work. Running a company is no easy feat, especially when competing against well-established international brands that have been around longer than we have.

As South African youth, we should look to Lekau for motivation and inspiration. We should be proud of his successes, which not only create job opportunities but also provide business opportunities for black individuals. It is essential that we support and uplift anything that is black-owned and progressive.

There is so much we can learn from Lekau’s journey. He has proven that nothing is impossible for black youth. We should focus on our goals and believe that anything is attainable. We should adopt a go-getter mentality and refuse to limit ourselves.

From Lekau’s early days of selling eggs to now owning one of South Africa’s leading clothing brands and employing over 300 people, his hustle is truly commendable. His recent rebranding of the entire Drip brand, including logo design, colour changes, and new product introductions, showcases a true rebirth. Drip is undoubtedly the present and the future.

Now, I can envision Drip expanding into the sports drink market, similar to Powerade. Why not? It is clear that Lekau’s innovative thinking knows no bounds.

The recent partnership with Moroka Swallows and Chairman David Mogahoa has truly changed the game. Drip is now the official technical sponsor for the team. This collaboration highlights the importance of black people working together and building each other’s brands. Through unity, we can achieve great success as black individuals.

It is my hope that more teams will follow suit and partner with local brands like Drip. Drip should be our own Nike or Adidas, a brand that we proudly associate ourselves with as an African dream. With our genuine support, Drip can compete with international brands.

It would be fantastic to see Drip take over the African continent and be worn by teams like al Ahly from Egypt or even top English clubs like Chelsea or Manchester United.

We should encourage the black youth to dare to dream. Lekau is truly an inspirational figure who shows us that with determination and hard work, anything is possible.
