JOHANNESBURG: Mr Malema has extended the invitation to his supporters in support of the defenseless protesters as Ramaphosa deploy SANDF to defuse the situation.
Mr Julius Malema, leader of Economic Freedom Fight (EFF) invited his party members to join the protest after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the deployment of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to assist police in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
The SANDF has started with pre-deployment processes and procedures of its members to areas hit by violent flare-ups in KZN and Gauteng.
Furthermore, the SANDF stated that they started with the pre-deployment after receiving the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure to assist the law enforcement agencies in the provinces to stop the unrest that has gripped both provinces in the last few days.
“The deployment will commence as soon as all deployment processes are in place,” said SANDF in the statement.
Mr Malema tweeted that they will go after the soldiers after President Ramaphosa announced the deployment of SANDF.
“No soldiers on our streets! Otherwise, we are joining. All fighters must be ready… they won’t kill us all. We need a political solution to a political problem, not soldiers,” said Mr Malema.
According to the statement, the SANDF emphasised the objective of the deployment is to provide safety and a safe working environment for members of the SAPS and other law enforcement agencies while they carry out their Constitutionally mandated law and order duties.
