JOHANNESBURG: Somizi Mhlongo reportedly owes SARS R3.5 million in taxes dating back to 2014.
The reality star and media personality’s furniture and other movable assets have reportedly been auctioned off by the South African Revenue Services.
The Sunday World claims that SARS is trying to recoup outstanding taxes to the amount of R3.5 million.
The publication further alleges that royalties from Somizi’s reality show, Living The Dream, an amount of R1.5 million, will be paid to SARS.
According to the report, the sale of execution for the auction of furniture and other movable assets was issued in November 2015.
The movable property was apparently authorised for auction on 18 May, at the Sandton North, Sheriff’s offices in Kensington, Randburg.
Some of the items that were included in the auction were:
- A Samsung washing machine
- 2 red human statues
- a white sculpture
- Le Creuset bowl
- Smeg Dishwasher
- Hisense TV
- Gas heater
- Samsung fridge
- Carrol Boyes bowl
Somizi and Mohale were set to receive R1.5 million for the airing of their wedding, however as reported, producer Legend Manqele did not pay the money to the couple.
It is alleged that Manqele was awaiting documents from SARS. Somizi was not available for comment.
