0 CAPE TOWN: ANC NYTT Convener and NYDA Chairperson have come under fire from the Cosas.
In a statement issued by the Congress of South African Students on Monday evening, the student society group sent a strong warning to the duo.
According to Cosas, “‘Toothbrush’ girl Nonceba Mhlauli and ‘Political Cinderella’ Asanda Luwaca, we will fall down on you like a ton of bricks!”
“As the Congress of South African Students in the Western Cape, we would like to clarify that we distance ourselves from the classroom get-together organised by Cde Nonceba Mhlauli and Asanda Luwaca under the banner of COSAS over the past weekend,” said Cosas.
It has emerged that over the past weekend, the student society body held a ‘congress’ where the election of new leaders was elected. This has then angered the other grouping within the student society body who lost during the congress which they attribute to Mhlauli and Luwaca.
“As individual members of COSAS, we have the responsibility to abide by and protect the constitution of this glorious movement. By that, as stipulated in the constitution of COSAS, ‘a Provincial Congress shall be convened by 2/3 of regions’ and that was not applicable in the get-together,” the statement said.
“As COSAS WC we are very much concerned by the manner in which certain individuals continue to use this glorious student movement to settle their political scores and run their campaigns, but are nowhere to be found when there are issues affecting scholars in black and white.
“We have a constitutional mandate of taking COSAS back to its rightful owners, however, we won’t allow vultures to dictate in the process.
“The ‘toothbrush’ girl runs to organize branch meetings of COSAS whilst her own ANCYL branch that she was adopted in is not in good standing but rather crippled, same goes for the ‘Political Cinderella’ Asanda Luwaca who looks confused as always with no content,” they said.
Mhlauli is currently the convener of the ANC National Youth Task Team which is tasked with ensuring that the structures are revived and new leaders are elected in the upcoming congress. Luwaca is currently the Western Cape Provincial Congress Preparatory Committee (PCPC) and the NYDA board chairperson.
Cosas has accused the duo of using their political power to influence to undermine their quest to ensure that leaders are elected in the province.
“The ‘toothbrush’ girl and the ‘political cinderella’ are not the best things that have happened to Western Cape Province, both of them arrived here with the purpose of causing chaos hence we call them the “destruction girls”.
“We want to give a warning to the destruction girls that they must rather focus their energies on the ANCYL of WC that cannot even manage to convene Branch General Meetings or Regional Conferences, they have failed their task equally. It’s unfortunate that she must drill it in her thick skull that she will never be the President of ANCYL.
“Furthermore, we will be taking the legal route against two individuals who claim that they are leading whilst they are a scam and Bogus.
“COSAS Western Cape is not a jungle and has never been one. Hence we will make sure that the organization is alive throughout the length and breadth of the Western Cape. We call on all scholars in the province to continue to rally behind the banner of COSAS as it is their only hope in making sure that the school environment is conducive for the culture of teaching and learning to take place,” the statement added.
