BUDAPEST: Hungary boss was aggrieved by the Portugal captain’s penalty celebration.
Cristiano Ronaldo is rarely out of the headlines, and now Hungary boss Marco Rossi has taken aim at the Portugal star for a goal celebration.
Hungary faced Portugal in their first match at Euro 2020 and kept the game scoreless until the 84th minute when Raphael Guerreiro put the Selecao ahead. Ronaldo then bagged two in the final minutes to give Portugal a 3-0 win.
“Ronaldo is a great champion but at times he can be annoying,” Rossi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“After the penalty with us he celebrated as if he had scored in the final. People notice these things.”
The penalty in question was Ronaldo’s first of the game and ensured he became the European Championships’ all-time leading scorer, overtaking Michel Platini’s nine goals.
