LONDON: A goal that has cemented his name in history for the Merseyside club.

Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has reached a major milestone in his Liverpool career. He scored his 200th club goal in all competitions for the Reds.

Salah and his company engineered a second-half turnaround to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in an English Premier League (EPL) clash at Selhurst Park Stadium, London, over the weekend.

The victory at Palace helped Liverpool to climb to the top of the league with 37 points, one point above the second-placed Arsenal. Having gone to the break a goal down, Jurgen Klopp’s men flipped the script with Salah netting an equaliser in the 76th minute.

A goal that has cemented his name in history for the Merseyside club. He has thus become the fifth player for the club to reach a double century of goals.

He now sits in the company of a stellar of club legends, such as Ian Rush (346 goals), Roger Hunt (285 goals), Gordon Hodgson (241 goals) and Billy Liddell (228 goals). Joining the Reds in 2017 from AS Roma, Salah became a key man in the club’s resurgence both in England and Europe.

He was EPL’s Golden Boot winner for the 2017/18, 2018/19, 2021/22 seasons, with his goals raising Liverpool’s stock. Ultimately, in the 2019/20 season, his 19 goals ended Liverpool’s 30-year league drought when they won the championship with 99 points.

His greatness shone through again when he helped his club end a 15-year UEFA champions league drought in June 2019. Remarkably, Salah reached his milestone in lesser games as his 200 goals came in just 326 appearances.

His goals are distributed in this manner:

• EPL (148 goals),

• UEFA champions league (42 goals);

• Football Association FA Cup (5 goals);

• Europa Cup (2) and

• A goal each in the Carabao Cup and Community Shield.
