Mosimane Is Available After Terminating His Contract With Al-Ahly

JEDDAH: Former Bafana Bafana coach terminated his contract with the club and he is available for offers from around the world.

Pitso Mosimane has quit his job as the head coach of Al-Ahly Saudi Football Club. He had a turbulent last few months at the club in with off-the-field events.

In an interview with Al Arabiya, a Saudi Arabian channel, earlier this month, Mosimane confirmed reports that he, along with his technical team and players, have not been paid for months. His last salary was paid in January 2023, revealed the Kagiso born-coach.

Despite his non-payment, the tactician stayed the course and won the second division of the Saudi league, known as the Yelo League, thus masterminding the club’s promotion to the Saudi Professional League (SPL). According to SABC Sports, the former Bafana Bafana coach terminated his contract with the club and he is available for offers from around the world.

When Mosimane joined Al-Ahly Saudi in September 2022, it was at the bottom half of the table. He was able to work his magic and turned things around within a short period.

With him at the helm, the club went on an unbeaten run of seven wins and five draws. The serial winner maintained that momentum and the team was eventually promoted to the top division.

The three-time Confederation of African Football (CAF) champions league winner is not short of clubs looking to secure his services. He has been linked with various clubs in Asia and North Africa as well as South Africa.

In the DSTV Premiership, he has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs, where he would take over from Arthur Zwane, who did not have a great first season as a head coach of Amakhosi.

This has become a familiar occurrence in the professional life of Mosimane after delivering success and trophies to clubs he is soon bound to find a new club. He left Mamelodi Sundowns at the height of the club’s success in 2020 to Join Egyptian giants, Al Ahly Sporting Club. The same happened in Egypt, where he guided the Red Eagles to two CAF champions league trophies, but did not stay beyond 2022.
