NELSON MANDELA: Buccaneers believe that the injuries of their players will not affect Bucs from winning their next game with Chippa United.

On the 18 of September 2021, Chippa United FC standing at number 7 with four-point will be playing against Orlando Pirate standing at number four with five points in Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at 3 pm.

Buccaneers currently have four injured players, Innocent Maela, Richard Ofori, Zakhele Lepasa and Thembinkosi Lorch will not make it on the Saturday game. However, it is confirmed that Lorch will be out for a long time.

“Last week, Coach Fadlu Davids revealed to the media that talisman Thembinkosi Lorch was out for the rest of the year. The news has since been confirmed by the medical department who reveals that the 28-year-old suffered a freak accident while at home which has resulted in Nyoso requiring shoulder surgery. The expected time for recovery of an injury of this nature is between 3-4 months.

“Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates can also confirm that Richard Ofori is expected to miss the DStv Premiership clash against Chippa United. The Ghanaian International, who suffered an injury while on international duty for the Black Stars, is still experiencing discomfort and pain on the site of injury,” stated in Pirates website.

Moreover, Lepasa will continue to be rehabilitated for the fracture of his ankle he suffered since last year in December. Maela is also on a long term injury. He is expected to return to full training in three months after surgery on an adductor longus injury.

However, the Buccaneers are ready to win this game after winning 1 – 0 over Swallows in DStv Premiership last Saturday. Fadlu Davids, Orlando Pirate Co-interim coach revealed their plans for best striker Tshegofatso Mabasa.

Mabasa scored the last winning goal for the Bucs as they claimed a 1 – 0 win over Swallows FC encounter on Saturday.

That’s where Mabasa appeared for the second time of the current season for the left-footed Markman, who has proved to be injury-prone since he joined the Soweto giants from Bloemfontein Celtic in July 2019.

Buccaneers believe that the injuries of their players will not affect Bucs from winning their next game with Chippa United. Since they have collected five points in their opening three league games, after one victory and two draws.

Chippa United worked hard to earn points against the DStv Premiership defending champions at the same venue. Thabiso Lebitso, midfielder urge his teammates to apply the same character they showed during their goalless draw with Mamelodi Sundowns last month to fight Orlando Pirates on Saturday at Nelson Mandela Bay stadium.

“If we can have the same character we showed against Sundowns, the same way that we played, I think we can do well against Pirates as well,” said Lebitso.

Chippa had a good start in the new season under new coach Gavin Hunt, recording a victory against Sekhukhune United, then drawing with Sundowns before losing to Royal.

Chippa will come into this game on the back of a 0 – 1 defeat to Royal in their last fixture and are desperate to bounce back to winning ways. They are ready to bring up a great performance after losing to Royal.
