On 15 September 2021 at 5 pm, a couple in a yellow Ford Mustang was shot dead by a taxi owner in Baragwanath road in Soweto, Diepkloof.

It was reported that the Mustang owner and Forex trader ‘Avumile Mjaqu’ was dating a taxi owner’s wife ‘Thembani Mbali Jele’, who was also killed in the scene.

A source stated that Avumile had been warned before to leave the taxi owner’s wife, but he did not want to listen, hence the gunman then took the matter into his hands.

Mbali Jele was a Reservist Constable in the Diepkloof Police Station. When the accident occurred, she was off duty, travelling with her partner in a yellow Mustang with registration number FS 80 RP GP.

It was at the corner of Immink and Baragwanath road where the shots were fired at the vehicle, which caused an accident between the Mustang and a minibus taxi.

15 Empty cartridges were found on the scene. The suspect shot himself dead in his home in Orlando East, right after the accident. The case is under investigation.
