ABU DHABI: Veteran former Bafana Bafana international Thulani Serero, is on the market as a free agent.

Thulani Serero is now available on the transfer market after Al Jazira Club, which plays in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Professional League, opted not to renew his contract. His current contract will expire at the end of June 2023. Therefore, the veteran playmaker would be free to choose his next destination.

Cream, as he is widely known, joined the UAE Pro League club in 2019. Serero, who had been a guaranteed presence in the team’s line-up, made 116 appearances for Al Jazira and won the league title in the 2020/21 season. He also played in the FIFA Club World Cup, which was hosted in Abu Dhabi for the club.

Since leaving the South African shores as a youngster, the former Bafana Bafana international has spent nearly 13 years abroad. He has spent much of this time in the books of Ajax Amsterdam, six seasons to be precise.

While plying his trade in the colours of the Dutch outfit, which had signed him in 2011 from its then South African feeder, Ajax Cape Town, the Soweto-born midfielder won four league titles and played in the UEFA champions league. In 2017, the 33-year-old joined another Eredivisie outfit, Vitesse FC, where he spent two seasons before jetting off to the UAE.

With the veteran former Bafana Bafana international Thulani Serero, on the market as a free agent. The player will not be short of options and offers for his services, as his experience and talents are still admired. Will Cream return to the DSTV Premiership as it is reported that two Gauteng giants are interested in him, Europe where he was successful, or would he continue to play in the Gulf region?
