KWAZULU-NATAL: Premier Soccer League confirms business transaction between Royal AM and Bloemfontein Celtics for next Dstv League season.
Sad football news for the Free State province giants supporters as Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirms a business transaction between Bloem Celtics and Royal AM complete. Bloem Celtics are expected to appear as Royal AM on the upcoming Dstv League Season, the PSL has announced.
According to PSL board in a statement issued Tuesday 17 August 2021, the statement writes that the executive committee has approved the transfer of the business of two-member clubs of the league and the results for the coming season is that “the club previously known as Bloemfontein Celtics will participate in the Dstv Premiership in this season, with its home venue at Chatsworth Stadium”.
Furthermore, PSL added that the Royal AM name will remain and participate in the GladAfrica Championship as Tshakuma Tsha Madzvhandila with its home venue at Thohoyandou Stadium. With that having said, DStv and PSL are currently attending to the administrative matters arising from these changes.
The move comes after fans feel it is a ‘legacy gone too soon for AmaSelesele that created a good fanbase after Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in the early 2000s. Celtics brought a tight competition when it showed up on then ABSA Premiership and produced impactful players with the likes of Mark Mayambela, Mario Booysen, Tlou Segolela, Gabadinho Mhango, Bongani Ndulula, Lebo Ramolesa and many more.
